BRIEF: Dog left abandoned in apartment for more than a month; man charged
Jan. 07--Buffalo Police charged a Knox Avenue man with abandoning a male pit bull named Caesar in an apartment on Parkside Court near Shoshone Park.
Joseph Calieri-Rivera left the dog confined in the kitchen area on Dec. 3, police said. When the landlord found the dog on Jan. 6, animal waste "was prevalent" both in the kitchen and throughout the house and showed that the dog had been left unattended "for an extended period of time," police said.
Police did not say whether the dog was left with any food or water. Caesar was taken by dog control officers to the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.
Calieri-Rivera was charged with violating the state Agriculture and Markets law by abandoning an animal, a misdemeanor.
